Quick answers
Does the tool add the check digit for EAN-13 and UPC barcodes?
Yes. Type 12 digits for EAN-13, 11 for UPC-A, 7 for EAN-8 or 13 for ITF-14 and the check digit is calculated. If you type the full number, the tool verifies it and tells you the correct digit when it doesn't match.
What size should a retail barcode be?
EAN-13 and UPC-A are nominally 0.33 mm per module (100% magnification), about 37.3 × 25.9 mm with quiet zones. You can go from 80% to 200%; smaller or truncated codes may be refused at the checkout. Use the Magnification menu to keep width and height in proportion.

How to use the Barcode Generator
- Pick the barcode type (EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 128, GS1-128, ITF-14, Data Matrix, QR…) and type the data: missing check digits are added and mistakes are explained.
- Set the real size: module width (X-dimension) in mm or mils, bar height, text, quiet zones and colors.
- Download SVG, PNG at your printer's DPI, PDF or EPS at exact size, or copy the SVG code.
- For many codes, paste a list or generate a numbered sequence, then download a ZIP or print them on an A4 or US Letter label sheet.

Frequently asked questions
Which file format should I use for printing?
SVG, PDF and EPS are vector files at the exact physical size, ideal for packaging and print shops. PNG is a pixel image: choose your printer's DPI (for example 203 or 300 for thermal label printers) so each bar maps to whole pixels.
Do I get my own GS1 barcode numbers here?
No. The tool draws barcodes for numbers you already own. Products sold in shops need a company prefix licensed from your national GS1 organization; made-up EAN/UPC numbers can clash with real products.
